place — how they have been playing, what is coming up, and the numbers the
predictions on every other page are being built from.
How to read the form
Recent results are the visible part; the goals and expected goals underneath them are the part that matters. A side winning while
being outshot is a side the model expects to stop winning, and the gap between
what they scored and what they were expected to score is the single most useful
thing on this page.
Things to watch
Form figures are rolling averages over recent matches, so they are slow to
notice a change and quick to be distorted by one strange result. Early in a
season there is not enough behind them to lean on.
